Loving the Vista De Lerio Mysteries series!Mirror Obscure is the second book in this series and is excellent。 Vivian Wei is a pregnant empath who is juggling her career as a dentist, taking care of her aging parents, and trying to figure out who committed a murder that her mom saw on the golf course near her home。 Follow along as she and her friends try to solve another murder using their psychic abilities and some good old common sense。

The second book in the Vista De Lirio series, “Mirror Obscure” is the story of Doctor Vivian Wei, a family practice dentist to the wealthy and wealthier。 As this is a PWF genre story, Vivian is in her 40s, well established, and… pregnant。 “Mirror Obscure” continues the adventure of three psychically-enhanced friends who join forces to solve mysteries in historic upscale Vista de Lirio located in the California desert。 They get some help from two teenage sleuths who know all the gossip, a handsom The second book in the Vista De Lirio series, “Mirror Obscure” is the story of Doctor Vivian Wei, a family practice dentist to the wealthy and wealthier。 As this is a PWF genre story, Vivian is in her 40s, well established, and… pregnant。 “Mirror Obscure” continues the adventure of three psychically-enhanced friends who join forces to solve mysteries in historic upscale Vista de Lirio located in the California desert。 They get some help from two teenage sleuths who know all the gossip, a handsome chief of police, and a grumpy ghost with an ax to grind。 While “Mirror Obscure” is firmly in the paranormal mystery category, a good deal of real-estate in the book is dedicated to “What to expect when you’re expecting in your 40s。” Hunter aptly captures the challenges as well as the joy of a “mature” mom-to-be preparing to parent solo by choice。 What was missing for me was something that surely would have taken place at some point in this scenario, (especially since one of the many Dr。 Wei’s is an OB/GYN), and that is a discussion of the risks for pregnancies over 40。 While it is more likely than not that a pregnancy would proceed normally in a healthy woman Vivian’s age, there is generally a higher risk for women over 40 of conditions such as preeclampsia and gestational diabetes, as well as increased risk of a child with a genetic divergence。 Again, given the reoccurring theme of “so many doctor Wei’s,” it seemed unrealistic that this discussion would not occur。 Overall, “Mirror Obscure” is a good follow up to “Double Vision” and a good lead into EV’s story, “Trouble Play。” If you’re a fan of Elizabeth Hunter and PWF, you will absolutely want this one in your collection。 I had an opportunity to read an advanced copy of “Mirror Obscure” in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

Vista de Lirio just might be becoming my favorite of Elizabeth Hunter’s PWF series。 With more of the quirky, slightly dark charm that made me so love its predecessor, Mirror Obscure is another tale of intrigue, murder, and humorous light mayhem (with a little romance for extra fun)。 Vivian Wei has a lot on her plate: she’s six months pregnant, her parents might be turning their visit into a permanent residence in her home, she’s still got to get a handle on her new psychic powers, she’s short on Vista de Lirio just might be becoming my favorite of Elizabeth Hunter’s PWF series。 With more of the quirky, slightly dark charm that made me so love its predecessor, Mirror Obscure is another tale of intrigue, murder, and humorous light mayhem (with a little romance for extra fun)。 Vivian Wei has a lot on her plate: she’s six months pregnant, her parents might be turning their visit into a permanent residence in her home, she’s still got to get a handle on her new psychic powers, she’s short one assistant at her dental practice, and her mother might have witnessed a brutal murder more or less in their backyard。 The only problem? Despite her mother’s certainty, there’s no evidence of a crime。 I absolutely loved the plot twists in this story。 Vivian, Julia and Evy have a LOT to uncover, and each new reveal sent me into a whole new spiral of guessing。 It’s a great mystery, and I loved watching the story unfold from the perspective of a very pregnant heroine, who’s save-the-day actions must now accommodate challenges like frequent bathroom breaks and difficulty fitting in cars。 I also really enjoyed her relationship developments; there was something deeply sweet about how the story events impacted her relationship with both her parents, and with Richard。 (Honestly, no one writes characters and human connections quite like EH does!)I’m so happy to have had the chance to read an early copy of this book, and can’t wait for the sequel! 。。。more

Another outstanding paranormal story by Elizabeth Hunter。 This is the 2nd book in a trilogy set in Palm Springs CA。 The series involves three unexpected friends dealing with newly accessed paranormal/psychic gifts and a series of murders they are involved in solving。 Glimmer Lake and Moonstone Cove are two other trilogies with similar plots。 These series are all well worth reading too! Book 2 in the Vista de Lirio series is amazing。 Mirror Obscure follows Vivian on her quest to become a mother as well as learning about and using her new psychic gifts。 Vivian is the most amazing character。 She can and will do what she wants and needs to get her desired outcome。 She is open, motivated, and so sure and unsure at the same time。 I love her developing relationship with Richard and her friends。 The book is an amazing whodunnit with awesome characters trying to find their way and happ Book 2 in the Vista de Lirio series is amazing。 Mirror Obscure follows Vivian on her quest to become a mother as well as learning about and using her new psychic gifts。 Vivian is the most amazing character。 She can and will do what she wants and needs to get her desired outcome。 She is open, motivated, and so sure and unsure at the same time。 I love her developing relationship with Richard and her friends。 The book is an amazing whodunnit with awesome characters trying to find their way and happiness in life。 As always, the writing draws you in to the world created by Elizabeth Hunter and I enjoyed every minute。 Loved this book and so excited for Evy's book。 I was given the opportunity to read a copy of this book。 。。。more
